Purpose of the Mandatory Zoom Meeting

The Live Zoom Meeting will bring all participants nationwide together to discuss challenges each one is facing in the course. There will be an agenda for each week’s meeting and the agenda will be sent to your individual email addresses every Monday. Each participant will review the week’s Live Zoom Meeting agenda and prepare for it.

It’s an opportunity for all participants to have their challenges addressed. If you learnt something during the work which you didn’t understand, the Weekly Live Zoom Meeting is an opportunity to engage your course instructors and fellow participants to share your challenge and get resolution of it.

The Dos and Don’ts during the Live Zoom Meeting

Be Professional

  1. Be on Time

Being late to a virtual meeting is the same as being late to a physical meeting. Please be on time.

  1. Be Attentive

Avoid doing other activities during a Live Zoom Meeting. This includes working, cooking, exercising, or communicating with others outside the Live Zoom Meeting. Imagine yourself physically in the same room as everyone else. What would you do to be attentive? What would you not do? Respect and help the Instructor by being attentive to what is on the screen.

  1. Be Seen

Have your camera on at all times. If you have to leave temporarily for some reason, keep your camera on so others know you are not there and can watch for your return. However, if your Internet is being slow and you have to choose between a poor connection and no video, turn off your video.

  1. Dress Well

Wear what you would wear if you were going to a physical workshop.

Strive for Audio and Video Quality

  1. Stabilize

If you’re using a device other than a laptop, please secure it so it does not move around during the Live Zoom Meeting.

  1. Use a Headset

If possible, use a headset or earbuds with a microphone. This can produce much better audio that can be heard more clearly by others.

  1. Reduce Noise:

Reduce or eliminate background sounds when you participate in a Live Zoom Meeting. Turn off or mute the microphone unless you need to speak.

  1. Control Backlighting

Make sure the group can clearly see your face. If a strong source of light is behind you, you will appear in shadow.
